Dolan and Paterson set to clash on same-sex marriage

With N.Y. Gov. David Paterson bent on introducing legislation that will legalize same-sex marriage, the work of newly-installed Archbishop Timothy Dolan begins in haste.

One the eve of his installation yesterday the Archbishop said, "You can bet I would be active and present and, I hope, articulate in this particular position."



The folks here in the Bay Area will soon be receiving a bishop who has been articulate in the issue of same-sex marriage during the campaign on California's Proposition 8: Salvatore Cordileone, presently the auxiliary in San Diego, and slated to be installed as Oakland's new Bishop.

Sometime in the next couple of months, the California Supreme Court is scheduled to rule on the constitutionality of the passage of Proposition 8 which outlawed same-sex marriage.

From today's Gospel (John 13:21-33, 36-38):

Simon Peter leaned back against Jesus' chest
and said to him, "Master, who is it?"
Jesus answered, "It is the one whom I hand the morsel
after I have dipped it."

So he dipped the morsel and took it
and handed it to Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot.
After Judas took the morsel,
Satan entered him.

So Jesus said to him,
"What you are going to do,
do quickly."
