history repeats itself
The wedding today of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, now HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, reminded me of a comment overheard from Alice Keppel at a restaurant. Keppel as you probably know was Camilla's great-grand mother and was the mistress of King Edward VII, Charles' great-great grandfather. Interesting eh? History indeed repeats itself.
Anyway, at this restaurant, Keppel allegedly saw Mrs. Wallis Simpson (King Edward VIII's mistress and later, wife) dining and then said, "We did things differently in my time." Mistresses during Alice's time would never think of marrying their royal paramours.
Alice Keppel: things were
done differently in her time.
