German Chancellor calls for easing of laws on embryonic stem cell research

As much of Italy turned away from the polling stations yesterday and Sunday--thereby defeating a law that would have lifted restrictions on egg and sprem donations, IVF's, and the screening of embryos--Germany's Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder on the other hand has said that Germany should liberalise laws that restrict researchers' use of embryonic stem cells.
