children at confession

Tonight, I am going to the parish where I had served last year as deacon, to serve as one of the priests hearing the individual confessions of children going to the sacrament of reconciliation for the first time.

It’s always especially nice going back to that community and meet old friends; and add to that the joy of hearing children confess.

It can be cute.

Last week, at my parish’s first reconciliation with kids, a child began reciting to me the act of contrition after his confession.

He goes, “O my God, I am hardly sorry for having offended Thee....”
