local priest appointed bishop

A local priest in the Bay Area, Larry Silva, was just named today as the new bishop-elect of Honolulu. I am sure the Catholic community in Hawaii must be very happy about this, not only because Fr. Silva is a wonderfully able priest (I have heard two homilies of his and they were outstanding) but also because Honolulu has not had a bishop for many months now. Fr. Silva is currently serving as the vicar-general for the diocese of Oakland.
