How do you make small talk? Well, NPR today had a nice piece on how to make holiday small talk at the office Christmas Party. Yes, it’s that time of year again.
We here at the parish for the next couple of weeks are having sundry Christmas parties: in fact I just attended one last night. It was fun. Being the newcomer, there were lots to talk about.
But having lived in a house of formation with other seminarians for several years, I knew the guys there, we knew what to talk about among ourselves, things were relaxed and familiar..... So, a new parish environment can be a tad tricky.
But Debra Fine, author of The Fine Art of Small Talk, gave good tips that can make some awkward small talk at your office Christmas party into an opportunity for conversational success.
