Benedict on those caricatures and peaceful demonstrations

The Lebanese Prime Minister, Fuad Saniora, said today that in his audience with Pope Benedict, the pontiff expressed his support for peaceful demonstrations in Muslim nations over the caricatures of Muhammad printed in some European newspapers a couple of weeks ago.

"He expressed that freedom in no way should really trespass on the freedom of others," said the Prime Minister.

And he adds: "The pope was very supportive of the peaceful expression of opinion in the Arab world, the Muslim world, because he condemns himself, as well, the efforts that are being made by others to trespass on the freedom and the convictions of other people."
